Bishop Michael F. Burbidge offers the following statement:
I ask for prayers from all of the faithful in the Diocese of Raleigh and from all people of goodwill for those who have been impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Matthew. I express deep sympathy for the families of those who have died here in North Carolina, in other parts of the US, and throughout the Caribbean. I also ask for prayers for the first responders working to assist those in such dire need at this time.
Catholic Charities is assessing needs in eastern North Carolina at this time, and will provide both immediate and long term assistance in the aftermath of the storm.
May Our Lord Jesus keep all of those impacted by this storm, especially those who have lost loved ones, always in His loving care, and may Mary Our Mother watch over all those who need our assistance and prayers, especially at this time.

En estos momentos pido sus oraciones, que recen por nuestros hermanos de la Diócesis de Raleigh y por todas las personas de buena fe, quienes han sido impactadas por los devastadores efectos del Huracán Matthew. Extiendo mis sinceras condolencias a aquellas familias de Carolina del Norte que han sufrido la pérdida de un ser querido, también para aquellos en otras partes de Estados Unidos y de las Islas del Caribe. Pido también sus oraciones por aquellos que están trabajando al frente, asistiendo a aquellos que tanto necesitan en estos momentos.
En este momento, Caridades Católicas está evaluando las necesidades de la parte Este de Carolina del Norte, y proveerá asistencia inmediata, así como a largo plazo después de la tormenta.
