Our Programs

Food Pantry

Hunger in our communities is an issue that far too many families are experiencing. A lack of nutritious meals can have long lasting effects on the physical, mental, and social well-being of all members of a family.

Catholic Charities Food Pantry Services are dedicated to providing healthy meals, increasing access to food, and developing innovative solutions to address food insecurity in a collaborative way.

With dignity and respect at the forefront of all interactions, families are offered a hand up during their most challenging times. In addition to feeding our neighbors, Catholic Charities Food Pantry Services serve as a medium for volunteerism, community engagement, and collaboration.

We are NOW open from 9am – 12 pm every Saturday!

News

In 2021, CPO was awarded 2-year grant extension to continue the work of this collaborative. This program has been a successful model of the United Way’s grants!

Due to the pandemic the program has been working remotely via zoom to continue it’s important mission. Job losses due to the pandemic has made this program even more critical to our clients to improve their employment status and quality of life!

Success Stories

Johana, who had been receiving food from CPO, was introduced to the collaborative and is a now a graduate of the program. Johanna utilized the services for herself and her boys while undertaking a huge step toward independence. The consistency and the support of the collaborative has enabled Johanna to now be a full time employee.

Jay, a struggling mother of 4, had lost her employment due to the pandemic and completed a three-day orientation with one of our United Way Collaborative “Sustaining the Family Table” partners, StepUp Ministry. After completion, she had an interview and was able to not only land a job, but an even better job for herself, and was able to get food for her family as well!

Volunteer

Join the CPO Family!

You are invited to volunteer at CPO! For safety reasons all volunteers under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone aged 16-18 needs to have  confirmation from their parent or guardian to volunteer without an adult.  They can work with the volunteer coordinator for this step.

Also, for safety reasons you are required to wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.

You can volunteer one time, once a month, once a week, or as frequently as your and our schedule permits. We ask that volunteers arrive 30 minutes before we open the doors to serving clients to prepare for distribution and plan to stay 30 minutes after closing time to clean up the work area for the next day.  For hours and days of operation please refer to the top of the home page.

Note: The people we support in our community are referred to as our “Neighbors.”

About Us

Purpose

As an expression of Catholic social teachings through the corporal works of mercy, the purpose of Catholic Parish Outreach Food Pantry is to serve those in need in our community by feeding the hungry and clothing the naked. We do this while treating all clients with the dignity and respect that each person deserves.

Providing Help

CPO provides emergency supplemental food for clients who experience more “month than money”. Individuals are able to access about a week of groceries once every 30 days. We also provide maternity as well as birth through pre-school children’s clothing, diapers, formula, and baby food to provide a strong start for young children.

Creating Hope

CPO provides tools and education to clients to help them make healthier choices for their themselves and their families. CPO is part of the Food Bank Central and Eastern NC “Healthy Pantries” initiative that provides materials to clients about nutrition, food safety and health. We also participate in the United Way’s “Sustaining the Family Table” which helps clients find employment/better employment while providing wrap around services so that clients can better their living circumstances.

Serving All

CPO serves all in need in the Raleigh Deanery (Wake, Johnston, and Franklin Counties) regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, etc. Our Catholic faith teaches that all persons have value and were made in the image of God and we therefore welcome everyone to access our services.
