Seven months ago, she began volunteering after seeing a call for volunteers in a St. Patrick Sunday bulletin. “Although my sister and I are not professional volunteers per se, we volunteer at several local agencies,” she says. On October 8, 2016, Hurricane Matthew impacted much of eastern North Carolina. For days, an unprecedented amount of rain fell, with up to 16 inches falling in many areas, setting state records. On September 14th, Catholic Charities, with the help of local community leaders, hosted a Mobile Distribution event in Bolton, NC. Catholic Charities gave out diapers, hygiene products, and food to those in need. By using Mobile Distribution methods, Catholic Charities is working to combat hunger in the food insecure areas it serves.
Cameron Morgan joined the Durham Community Food Pantry (DCFP) team in April 2020 having previously worked at “The Scrap Exchange,” next door. However, Cameron had actually already worked with the DCFP since its inception in 2019. As the Covid-19 pandemic began to grow, the DCFP found itself in a precarious situation.
