The Community Garden and Food Distribution Specialist will establish, implement and expand services related to the creation of sustainable community food systems. The position will create community gardening opportunities and operate food distributions in areas served by Catholic Charities. This includes developing community partnerships, volunteer recruitment, and logistics related to expanding services.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide diversity of people from different ethnic backgrounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other appropriate applications is required. Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written) is strongly preferred.
A valid NC driver’s license, a reliable vehicle for business use, and authorization to work in the U.S. are required. Candidates must also have knowledge of and a commitment to Catholic social teachings and the mission of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team are essential. This role may require travel and occasional evening or weekend hours as scheduled and as needed.
