Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh is proud to announce that the Tar River Regional Office in Greenville is among 38 Family Serving Organizations in North Carolina to receive funding from Positive Childhood Alliance North Carolina (PCANC). This generous $50,000 grant, provided in collaboration with the North Carolina Division of Social Services, will support the expansion of the Circle of Parents family support program at the Tar River Regional Office throughout the upcoming year.
As part of the $1.8 million initiative by PCANC, the funding will enhance the Circle of Parents program’s ability to deliver vital services to families, helping to strengthen communities and connect them with critical resources. The Tar River Regional Office’s Circle of Parents program is a parent-led group where individuals share ideas, provide support, and access resources in a nonjudgmental and confidential environment. This program promotes positive parenting, the prevention of child abuse, and the strengthening of families, all while fostering community connections. The Circle of Parents at the Tar River Office is free of charge and primarily serves Spanish-speaking mothers of school-aged children.

The grant will enhance services such as parenting education, case management, and one-on-one support while expanding the office’s capacity to connect families with community-based resources. These efforts align closely with PCANC’s mission to advance the well-being of all North Carolina families. Over the funding period, Catholic Charities will participate in training, consultation, and technical assistance activities provided by PCANC to ensure the success of this project.

The Tar River Regional Office serves families in Edgecombe, Greene, Halifax, Nash, Northampton, Pitt, and Wilson counties and provides a wide range of services, including Disaster Services, Food Pantry Services, Immigration Legal Services, and Case Management. Each year, Catholic Charities impacts approximately 10,000 individuals through its programs, which promote well-being and resilience for all families in need.
