On Friday, March 14th, 2025 the Fayetteville Marksmen prepared to face off against the Evansville Thunderbolts in an anticipated match for the local team. As part of showcasing wonderful nonprofits from the Fayetteville area, the Marksmen demonstrated their commitment to the community by partnering with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh. The initiative consisted of a portion of every ticket sold through a dedicated Catholic Charities link being donated to the agency.
As the sun set, local Fayetteville hockey fanatics trickled into the Coliseum, passing by the Catholic Charities box truck which is used each week to transport healthy food for the office food pantry. Fans were adorned in a selection of festive Marksmen jerseys showing the different eras of the team’s branding, while staff represented in their best Catholic Charities purple. Fayetteville Program Director, Vicky Jiménez said that “This was our first time working with the Fayetteville Marksmen. When I was looking for fundraising opportunities in our area, I reached out to the Marksmen, and they informed me about their nonprofit opportunities.” She continued, “While this year we participated in only ticket sales fundraising, we hope to grow next year and become Nonprofit of the Night.”
Despite the Thunderbolts besting the Marksmen with a final score of 3-2 on Friday evening, Catholic Charities staff and supporters left with full hearts and clear minds about the importance of community events like this one.
“Through this fundraising opportunity, the Fayetteville Office can continue to stretch our funding resources, especially during these uncertain times. We would love to continue this partnership and look forward to cheering on the Fayetteville Marksmen in the future” Vicky remarked.
