The 3rd Annual Dancing for a Cause was another successful event in support of Centro para Familias Hispanas. For the third consecutive year, the event took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh. The evening was filled with joy and entertainment for participants while providing Centro para Familias Hispanas with critical financial contributions to support programming.
Centro para Familias Hispanas, a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh, has been serving the Hispanic community since 1997. Today, Centro para Familias Hispanas offers services focused on early childhood and adult education, family support services, case management and immigration.
In the last decade, there has been a significant increase in the number of immigrant Hispanic families arriving in Wake County. For this reason, the work of Centro para Familias Hispanas is crucial in supporting these newly arrived families and connecting them to available programs in the community, including guidance to enroll children in school and low cost health clinics.
Each year, Centro para Familias Hispanas impacts the lives of more than 10,000 people through their various programs.
As part of the night of celebration, Rick Miller-Haraway, who serves as the Director of Catholic Charities Raleigh Regional Office and will be retiring next month, received a plaque from David Juarez, interim program director for Centro para Familias Hispanas. David highlighted the many ways Rick has supported the work of Centro para Familias Hispanas over the past two decades.
Rick said, “It’s an incredible blessing to serve the whole team of Centro para Familias Hispanas. It just amazes me, seeing the people who visit Centro para Familias Hispanas facing so many challenges. This community remains optimistic and happy. It’s a beautiful community and I always will treasured it.”
The evening was a success due to the generosity of the sponsors and friends of Centro para Familias Hispanas.
