Job Description: The Director for Oak City Cares is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the Oak City Cares program.  The position is responsible for the execution of the operating agreement with Wake County. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and managing relationships with other service providers at Oak City Cares. The Director will engage with key community partners to strengthen coordinate services and strengthen financial support for the program.

Required Qualifications: Masters or Professional degree; Human Services, Non-Profit Management or Business degree preferred; 7 – 9 year’s work experience with 5 years of non-profit management experience; effective negotiation, fundraising, and planning skills; experience leading collaborations, knowledge of or experience providing homeless services; demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide diversity of people from different ethnic backgrounds; excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge of and commitment to Catholic teachings and practices and the mission of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh; valid NC Driver’s License and a vehicle in working order for business use; authorized to work in the U.S. EOE.

Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish/English oral and written communications.

What is Oak City Cares?

Oak City Cares (Center) will be a multi-services center located in Raleigh, NC to serve people experiencing homelessness. The Center will open in late 2018 and will be operated by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh through an agreement with Wake County Human Services. Oak City Cares is a highly collaborative project led by the City of Raleigh, Wake County Human Services, the Raleigh Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness and Catholic Charities. Oak City Cares will effectively and efficiently connect people to needed services at the Center and in the community. The core service of Oak City Cares will be coordinated entry, assessment services, facilitated connections to needed services for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Other services will include meals on weekends, access to computers, cell phone charging, showers and a laundromat. Other human service agencies will offer services at Oak City Cares that could include: health and behavioral health assessments and “first aid”; employment readiness training; rapid rehousing; diversion resources; traveler’s aid; and other needed programs.
