Information for former clients of international or interstate adoptions

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh, formerly Catholic Social Services (1961 – 1983) and Catholic Social Ministries (1983 – 2006), provided home study services for interstate and international adoptions while partnering with many placement agencies across the United States.  These placement agencies maintain complete records that include the home study and birth parent information.  Former clients of international or interstate adoptions should contact your placement agency for any assistance you might need.

Information for former clients of full service agency adoptions

Catholic Charitie of the Diocese of Raleigh, formerly Catholic Social Services (1961 – 1983) and Catholic Social Ministries (1983 – 2006), provided “agency” adoptions where Catholic Charities staff worked with both the adoptive parents and the birth parents. The files related to agency adoptions have been digitized and are stored with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charlotte.  Former clients of Catholic Charities full service agency adoptions can contact Teresa Porter in Charlotte at 704-370-3262 or TAPorter@ccdoc.org         for any assistance you might need. This includes assistance with Confidential Intermediary Services to receive non-identifying information from your record or to possibly initiate the search process for locating a birth parent or adult adoptee.
